Our mission is to inspire Boise to change the stigma around homelessness with compassion. One of the biggest challenges we see is that when people encounter someone experiencing homelessness, they often don’t know what to do. Many people want to help but feel unsure or hesitant.
That’s why we created Neighbor Bags.
Neighbor Bags are thoughtfully designed toiletry packs filled with essential items that people experiencing homelessness often need, including:
Hand warmers for cold nights
Bottled water for hydration
Nutritious snacks to keep energy up
Socks to protect against the elements
Hygiene essentials and more
A Practical Way to Make a Difference
Neighbor Bags are meant to be kept in your car, backpack, or anywhere convenient so that the next time you see someone in need, you have something tangible and helpful to give. If you’re hesitant to give money or unsure how to engage, these kits offer a simple way to take action with kindness.
The Challenge: Be a Neighbor
What makes these kits even more special? Each one contains a “Be a Neighbor” challenge card. These optional cards encourage an extra act of kindness beyond just handing out a bag. A challenge might be:
💛 “Buy your neighbor a coffee from Starbucks.”
💛 “Pick up a sandwich from a local shop and share it.”
💛 “Take a few minutes to have a real conversation.”
These small but powerful actions help break the stigma around homelessness by creating genuine human connections.

Neighbor exists to show every man, woman, and child in our community that they are seen and loved. Practically, we do this by helping provide the houseless community with toiletries, food, clothing, and genuine love and support; no strings attached.
